Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera
The Official Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera is a specialized 1.6-megapixel camera designed to capture fast motion without the distortion typical of rolling shutter cameras. It’s ideal for fast motion photography and machine vision applications, where even slight distortions can significantly affect inference accuracy.
With large pixels measuring 3.45μm × 3.45μm, the camera offers high light sensitivity, allowing for short exposure times (as low as 30μs with adequate lighting), making it a perfect fit for high-speed photography.
The camera features a 1.6MP Sony IMX296 sensor and shares the same C/CS-mount lens system as the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of lenses. While the IMX296 has a lower resolution compared to rolling shutter sensors of similar size, this is advantageous for machine vision applications where high-resolution images can be difficult to process in real time. The Global Shutter Camera’s lower resolution, combined with suitable lens magnification, allows for capturing images optimized for machine vision models.
The package includes a C- to CS-mount adapter, screwdriver, 150mm ribbon cable, and a removable plastic back cover for protection. The camera is compatible with all Raspberry Pi models featuring a CSI connector.
